Overview
Shantipur, in Nadia, West Bengal, is known for its traditional Shantipuri saris. My team studied this cluster through hands-on research and data analysis as part of a Craft Research Documentation project, gaining insights into how the craft works at the grassroots level.
.
This collection is a result of collaborating symbiotically with the artisans of Shantipur on a Craft Development Project. Wherein we create commercially viable and innovative designs that are contemporary yet remain rooted in tradition and the artisans embrace our designs, integrating them into their work, which help bridge the gap between tradition and modernity.

About 'Auniati'
'Auniati' is a design collection (group work) that pays tribute to the rich Vaishnav heritage of Shantipur, West Bengal, and its roots in ancient Assam. Inspired by the manuscripts (Punthi) of the Auniati Satra in Majuli, Assam, the collection reflects the connection between the origins of Vaishnavism and its spread to Shantipur. The motifs and color palette draw directly from these historical texts, celebrating the shared cultural history and spiritual legacy of the two regions.
