Name:
THE GENESIS (meaning the origin, formation, or beginning of something)
Description:
"The Genesis” is a wearable art that is inspired by the ancient Greek myth of the creation of the first humans. The essence of humanity, nurtured by pure natural elements, is celebrated here.
Design Elements:
Earthly Textures: incorporating earthy tones and textures, reminiscent of the clay & raw nature from which the first humans were shaped.
Golden Fire Elegance: The golden hue and fiery accent represent the gift of fire stolen from the gods, symbolizing the warmth and vitality of the Sun. This creates a radiant, almost ethereal, quality in the ensemble.
Curvy lines: The curves and natural lines incorporated here to evoke the grace, rawness, and freedom of the first humans, capturing the timeless connection between humanity and the Earth, the curved, structural lines also help to connect with the drama of ‘Rococo’ period (I've taken inspiration from this art movement for this project).
Weaving the Straws
For this project, I have chosen to work with handwoven rice straws and thick macramé cotton yarns. My intention was to craft a woven base entirely by hand, starting from scratch, to align with the profound theme of human origin, rawness, and the pure naturalness of God's creation.
To honor this vision, I've deliberately avoided pre-made synthetic fabrics, opting instead for materials that embody authenticity and purity. Alongside the handwoven rice straw base, I've incorporated pure cotton muslin, ensuring every element resonates with the simplicity and organic beauty of nature.
